Two minutes after the break, a free kick from forty yards was curled onto the head of an open Cristian Riveros, which was an absolute embarrassment for Ecuador's defense. The second goal arrived barely ten minutes later off a corner kick. Paraguay held onto their 2-0 lead until the very end of stoppage time, when Ecuador pulled one goal back. Paraguay notches their first win of qualifying, 2 to 1.
