Paraguay 2 - Ecuador 1

Paraguay welcomed Ecuador to Asuncion for Matchday Three in CONMEBOL qualifying. Marcelo Estigarribia (pictured, #15) crashed a low shot of the inside of the post, but it bounced out, saving Ecuador for the time being. The rest of the half was rather quiet, and the scoreline was knotted at zero at the break.

Paraguay made two set pieces count in the second period. Two minutes after the break, a free kick from forty yards was curled onto the head of an open Cristian Riveros, which was an absolute embarrassment for Ecuador's defense. The second goal arrived barely ten minutes later off a corner kick. Paraguay held onto their 2-0 lead until the very end of stoppage time, when Ecuador pulled one goal back. Paraguay notches their first win of qualifying, 2 to 1.
