Costa Rica made the trip to the Office in Kingston to take on local boyz Jamaica. In the first half, both teams have various chances, though Jamaica were the only team to take any shots from inside the box. At the tail end of the half, Costa Rica began to control the game. However, the first half ended without having seen a goal.
The match calmed down significantly for thirty minutes only an errant pass from Jamaica goalkeeper Richard McCallum was picked up by Randall Brenes. McCallum doubled his trouble by failing to keep a soft Brenes shot out at his near post, so the Ticos were up 1-0. The calls for Jermaine "Tuffy" Anderson to play for the Reggae Boyz have been incessant ever since he became the top scorer in the Jamaican league, and finally he got his chance tonight, coming on midway through the second half. In stoppage time, Jamaica centerback Jermaine Taylor lofted a ball over the top from midfield. Anderson outsprinted Michael Umaña to the quickly dipping ball. Anderson's outstretched foot sent the ball rolling slowly into the far side of the goal, tying the match in the dying moments. The 1-1 draw delays Costa Rica's qualification party for the time being, but if both Mexico and Panama fail to win later tonight then Costa Rica qualify anyway.
