Panama 3 - Dominica 0

Panama played host to Dominica in Panama City in the final Group C match of the CONCACAF Second Round. Dominica gifted their hosts a one-nil lead with a lazy set of passes in their own third of the pitch leading to a turnover and goal when Panama swooped in and stole the ball. Panama were simply toying with their opponents when their second goal came. A nicely executed one-two-one passing sequence from forty yards out led to a two-on-one opportunity with a goalkeeper which Panama easily finished. The 2-0 score held until halftime thanks to three great saves by Dominica goalkeeper Glenson Prince.

In the second half, Panama should have had three more goals, but Prince smothered all the chances until six minutes remained in the game. Panama finally got their third goal to secure the win by a final score of 3-0, though Prince prevented what could easily have been an 8-0 scoreline. Dominica finish the qualifiers with four losses and no goals scored whereas Panama move onto round three.

Nicaragua 1 - Dominica 0

Nicaragua played host to Dominica in Managua. A win for the hosts would secure second place in the group. Nicaragua dominated possession and the creativity on the pitch tonight, but no goals were to be found either way in the scoreless first half.

Nicaragua kept up their attacking spirits and eventually found a goal through Raul Leguias, a man who had scored against Dominica in the first meeting between the two teams. Nicaragua never gave Dominica any opportunities to equalize, and Nicaragua finish their campaign with a 1-0 home victory.

Panama 5 - Nicaragua 1

Panama faced off against fellow UNCAF team Nicaragua in the rain of Panama City looking to clinch their spot in the CONCACAF Third Round with a victory. Luis Tejada (pictured, red) of Panama had a 20th minute penalty kick blocked by goalkeeper Denis Espinoza, and the ensuing rebound was blasted off the crossbar, keeping the score knotted at zero. Tejada made amends for his miss with a goal nine minutes later. The score at the half was Panama 1, Nicaragua 0.

In the second half, La Marea Roja took over. Four minutes even, Nicaragua committed the unforgivable sin of allowing a goal off a long throw-in when Blas Perez rose up to head home the second goal. Panama had at least ten chances on goal over the course of the second half, and at one point held a 5-0 lead after Perez completed his hat trick. La Marea Roja are the first side to win their group in the CONCACAF Second Round, which means that Panama now join Honduras and Cuba in CONCACAF Group Three.

Panama 5 - Dominica 0

Dominica played their second and final home game of Group C today at home in Roseau. Group favorites Panama rolled into town having won their previous road qualifier at Nicaragua. Panama took a while to get going, but once they opened their account, the goals poured in to Dominica's net. The first came with twenty minutes left in the first half, the second but eight minutes later. Panama led 2-0 at the break.

Panama took ten minutes to score to open up a 3-0 lead. Seven minutes after that, it was 4-0. With two minutes left in the match, Panama struck yet again to all but wrap up the group title with a 5-0 win. Panama need a win at home to Nicaragua on Tuesday in order to advance to the CONCACAF Third Round.

Panama 2 - Nicaragua 1

Panama, the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup semifinalists, made their long-awaited debut in the tournament at the Nicaraguan capital city Managua. The two-headed striking monster of Luis Tejada and Blas Perez that hounded so many opponents in the Gold Cup was on its game tonight. Tejada scored the first of what promise to be many Panama goals in the 2014 FIFA World Cup with a header in the eighth minute. Panama got unlucky to relinquish the lead after an own goal just over ten minutes after grabbing the lead, and the 1-1 scoreline would persist into halftime.

Five minutes into the second period, Perez latched onto a ball in the area off a header from Tejada. Perez pop the ball up with his right foot, spun and swung on a volley with his left foot, and drove the ball into the net, leaving the crowd dissatisfied. Nicaragua would respond to the 2-1 deficit by putting two balls into the back of the Panamanian net, but both were disallowed for offsides. The Canaleros held on for a 2-1 victory in what would appear to be the most difficult of their four fixtures in Group C. Panama are level on points with Nicaragua with a game in hand.

With the withdrawal of Bahamas, Group C action consists of only one match per matchday. The first match of the group featured third seed Nicaragua visiting second seed Dominica. Nicaragua wasted little time establishing that they would be the biggest threats to Panama while playing before the Dominica fans in Roseau. Twenty seconds after the opening whistle, the home side was down 1-0. Raul Leguias scored the fastest goal so far in the 2014 World Cup.

Nicaragua added a second with ten minutes to play in the first half. The visitors saw out the game for the 2-0 victory and the early lead in Group C. Nicaragua next play at home versus Panama on 6 September 2011. Dominica next play at Nicaragua on 7 October 2011.
