Paraguay 1 - Peru 0

Asuncion was the site for Peru's visit to Paraguay to take on the Albirroja.  Peru were feeling good after having revived their hopes of qualification over the previous three rounds; Paraguay were looking to add points in a bid to eventually move out of last place.  Both teams looked legitimately inept in offense, which was more surprising from Peru who have a fantastic foursome in attack.  Paraguay have been anemic for the past two years.  The first half ended as a boring 0-0 game.

In the only memorable play of this most forgettable match.  Peru winger Luis Advincula committed a silly foul with the attacker facing away from the goal, putting Peru at risk on a set piece, their defense weakness.  Julio Dos Santos put in a nice ball to a spot seven yards from goal, and center back Pablo Aguilar shook his mark and rose above the crowd to head home for the only exciting occurrence in the match.  Paraguay win 1-0.
